Zebrafish also know as Zebra Danio is one of the Hardiest fish I have owned. They are a prime option for beginners in Aquarium hobby. The Video will help with Zebrafish care, the danio's in the Video are of 3 types, the common Zebrafish, Golden zebrafish, Pink Zebra danio.
Aquarium Care Guide for Zebra Danio-
1. Tank Size - 10 Gallon or bigger tanks are recommended for Zebrafish, Zebra fish are schooling fish & need to be kept with 6 or more Zebrafish. They grow over 2 inches & can live over 2 years.
2. Temperature range - Zebra Danio can adapt to a wide range of temperature. 65 to 77 degree Fahrenheit is what most aquarist's prefer for their danio's & 78 degree triggers spawning of zebra fish.
3. pH level - Zebra fish can adapt to pH ranging from 6.5 to 8. I keep the pH around 7 in my Zebrafish Tank. Neutral pH helps to add other community fish in the tank.
4. Filtration - Sponge or HOB filter is good enough, Zebra Danio spend lot of time swimming in the middle & surface area of the tank. Keeping the water movement to minimal at the surface is advisable.
5. Tank Decoration - Zebra Danio are schooling fish they need room to swim in the tank. You can decorate the tank bottom with sand, substrate & rocks. Long growing aquatic plants & drift wood would look nice & Zebrafish swim around them.
6. Food - Zebrafish are Omnivores. They are less demanding in what food you feed them, they eat readily available fish food, live food like daphnia or blood worms & even vegetable matter can be fed twice a day.
7. Tank mates - You can add any similar size community tank fish like mollies, swordtail & platies to a zebra fish tank. Fin nipping is rare & usually happens in a over stocked tank or when Zebra fish is kept alone. The right tank size usually takes care of any aggression.
