Haven’t you heard? Burgundy is WAY in. Maybelline makeup director Nigel Stanislaus is here to give you the low-down on how to perfect a rich, russet smokey eye…. using the NEW Burgundy Bar!

First major hack to mastering a smokey eye? Do it with your eyes open, so you know how to plot the colours to suit your eye shape.

Taking the burgundy shade, Nigel packs the pigment onto the eyelid before blending it into the crease with a neutral matte. Using a pencil brush, he smokes out the lower lash line with the same burgundy.

To complete the smokey eye effect, he adds a darker shade to the outer corners of each eye. A little shimmer on the centre of the lid jazzes up the look, and he uses the same shade to highlight her brow bone.

For the final touches, he fans out her lashes with Lash Sensational Mascara, starting from the root and brushing it upward and outwards for a starburst effect!
